A Little About Me

Today I wanted you to get to know me better. These are pictures of my beautiful family, starting with my wonderful husband Tony. Without him, our life we live would not be possible. He rocks at baby duty and is the nicest guy I have ever met:) He also edits all my blog posts and is the most handsome, funny, witty, charming stud in the whole world (editor's notes).

This is Little J aka Jessica Christine. She is the happiest baby in the world, as long as you surrender all digital devices to her. Her favorite food is food and she has eight teeth at 16 months old.

This is my mini-me Gillian. She is creative and loves to dance and sing while doing just about anything. She is a very hard working girl in life, and will go very far if she keeps following her heart.

My fur-baby Gia and our chickens. Gia is half the size of our chickens but loves to get them going so they chase her around the yard. She is the first small dog I have ever owned and I gotta say I love having a dog whose fur I'm not wearing all the time.  Our chickens are new this year, my husband build our coop and all us ladies are pretty proud of him.

Thanks again for reading my blog, hope you enjoyed my little family. I will be working the next few days on set at The Aladdin's Lamp Production in Vernon BC. I think I have 40 cast members that I am doing makeup on. So excited to show you all the pics soon:)

-Take Vitamin B
-Brush wet hair with wide tooth comb

The Don'ts:
-Washing your hair everyday (dries out ends)

Five Rad Gifts For The Man In Your Life!

Five Gifts For Any Man!
As Christmas sneaks up on us, some of us scramble to find the perfect present. Getting something useful can be a challenge. For some reason people buy men sweaters for gifts and a year down the road the sweater has not been worn and it's heading for Value Village. On that note, if you are in the market for the perfect boyfriend sweater check the mens sweater rack at the second hand store. I scored a cashmere sweater from Holt and Renfru for ten dollars. That being said I have come up with five rocking gift that I have found that my man loves and are the most used things he has.
House Coat: NAUTICA striped belted robe
1. The House Coat.
I love a good house coat to toss on when the animals need outside in the middle of the night. Or for jumping out of the shower in the morning. I have found that just about every guy has one and it looks "well loved" or they want one and are too lazy to go and get one themselves.

Pajama Pants: Polo Ralph Lauren
2.The Pajama Pant
Christmas Eve in our house we open one gift and it is always PJs. My man's fav pajama pants are the ones with pockets and made of flannel. Plus men look super sexy in plaid pj pants!

Sox: Reebok No Show
3. The Socks
We all love new socks. The options are endless, my favorite socks to gift are ski socks or outdoor hiking socks.

Candle:Origins Warm Up Candles
4.The Man Candle
I'm sure you are all thinking "A candle? Really?" but one romantic thing a man can do for his lady is light a candle in the bedroom. It's just one of those things that guys don't think of for themselves but having one on hand can be really handy. But remember to keep in mind it's for a guy so pick vanilla or something less floral so the chances of him using it will be much greater.

Portable Speaker: Logitech Mini Boombox
5.The Portable Speaker
This little gift packs a big bang for your buck. Just plug in any MP3 player or cell phone and you have instant tunes. I had originally bought a speaker for myself but often had to ask my husband where he had it last. Anytime he was working outside the speaker went with him.

New lip palette and Today Was Adventure Day!

New  Edward Bess lip palette featuring eight lip colors in Edward's signature creamy formula

I was so excited yesterday when I checked the mail and found a birthday present to myself :) Every birthday I splurge on one makeup palette. This year I decided that instead of my regular eyeshadow palette purchase I was going to try a lip palette. Just think of all the lip colors one could make with 8 colors to mix with one another! The pic below on the left is me rocking the deep red on the bottom far right called Midnight Bloom. The pic on the right is me rocking the color on the top far left called Nude Lotus. I love how smooth each color went on and how polar opposite each shade was from the other. Where to score this palette. http://www.sephora.com

Adventure Day @ Silver Star Resort Vernon B.C
Today was opening day at the local ski hill and the tix were only $20 for a full day. Joining me was me two girl friends Nicki of http://naturally-homemade.blogspot.ca/ and Kyra, an equine massage therapist who has just moved to Vernon. As we headed up the mountain we broke through the clouds to a sunny winter wonderland. The snow glistened like diamonds. Everyone on the mountain was smiling from ear to ear, filled with joy and excitement to make the first tracks of the day.

Our tailgate party for our lunch break. We made far too many people jealous with our setup of cheeses, dips, crackers, breads and caesars!

The picture below gives you the idea of how clear above everything we were. This is my heaven and the best way to fight off the winter blues. The mountain offers snowshoeing, tubing, outdoor skating, cross country skiing, down hill skiing and even a horse drawn carriage. There is pretty much something for everyone at this ski resort. Plus happy friendly    staff from all around the world.

Lets Go Baroque Tonight

Dolce & Gabbana filled the runway with gold, jewels and mosaics reminiscent of the 17th Century.  The whole collection has a cathedral feeling. This collection is definitely not for day to day but the baroque trend is hot right now and always seems to be a winter go-to.  Try some brocade pants or a lace embroidery dress. I love velvet so I would mix in a velvet coat that has some embroideries or damask print detail. Don't be afraid to give this look a try. Finding a classic piece can feel daunting but just go looking for one piece, any piece.  As long as the fit is good, and you feel good, that is what counts;) my closet has size 2 to size 12 but a lot of the pieces are classic so as I jump all over on the scale throughout the years, I still have great clothes to create a look with.

The Classic Leopard prints! Plus Designer of the Week

Long Live The Leopard Print
A season never goes by without lepard print on the runway. For as long as man has hunted animals we have been wearing leopard. In 1947 Christian Dior was the first designer to introduce fabric printed with leopard spots. Today leopard print has become a classic staple in wardrobes all over the globe.
Fall RTW 2013 Designers above: Saint Laurent, DKNY, Thakoon, Tracy Reese, Versace.

Designer of the day Mary Katrantzou
Mary Katrantzou is a thirty year old designer born in Athens and now lives in London.  She originally wanted to create interior prints then switched to fashion prints halfway through college. Mary has based her collections on perfume bottles, artisan blown glass, paintings and photography. I love how each piece is modern with a hint of futuristic.
