New Years Eve Party Ideas
With New Years Eve just around the corner I thought today I would share some pictures from last year's New Year's party. For this event we like to have a skating rink in the backyard. Last year we had our rink in the backyard, with a bonfire, white christmas lights, and candles stuck in the snow. I punch my fist through the snow and put tea lights inside. I also used tall tapered candles which I stick in the snow that has gathered on tree branches and it looks super magical. For appies I invite everybody to bringing an appy for at least 10 people and then I provide s'mores, which taste awesome, and drinks. Champagne, wine, hot apple cider, hot chocolates, and a little Carolans. There is nothing quite like having a skating rink in your backyard and having all your friends and family over!

Festival Of Trees Adventure Day
Today Gillian, mom and I went to this little art galley & museum in Armstrong BC that had their tree decorations all set up. Each tree was from a different business, and each one decorated to complement that business. Also lucky enough to see Santa and get a little goodie bag. The bonus of it being at both the museum and the art gallery is that you get to take in the sights of both of those places, and the museum had some really great things including the heart-shaped branding iron. If you are in the Armstrong area be sure to check out the poster down below for times.
My favorite decoration is this little hand painted decoration of of a dog that is on the North Okanagan Tracking Club.

A Night in Bethlehem Adventure
In our beautiful little city of Armstrong the First Baptist Church puts on a wonderful production called "A Night In Bethlehem" every December. This was my first time going and I was in awe of how well put-together the market was and how everyone stayed in character. Making it a real market in Bethlehem by adding livestock topped off the experience. I learned many thing about the jewish people and loved hearing the story of baby Jesus while sitting a a fire with three wise men:)

Adventure Day At Caravan Farm Theater Winter Show
The Caravan Farm Theater is a magical place were everyone is escorted via horse and sleigh through a winter wonderland in the forest and pastures on the farm to stop at several different stages. It creates a one-of-a-kind outdoor theater adventure experience. My mom and I started the tradition five years ago, and as the years have gone by sometimes there are 18-20 of us. This year I had seen a last minute deal, buy two tickets and get two for free for the opening night. Our show time was 6pm and with fresh snow on the ground I knew I would not be disappointed.
If you are in the Armstrong area check out this fantasic mix of farm and theater. Throughout the year they have several events, including the Mothers Day farmers market, which was my very first face painting gig.

The Classic Cape With A Hint Of Equestrian Style
The classic cape is one of my wardrobe staples. I have a knitted shawl-style cape and a camel wool cape that I scored at value village. Every time I wear one I get told how well put-together I look. With that in mind, I decided that the cape deserved a highlight in my blog. I love the cape look with a hint of equestrianism.
This second look starts with a knit shawl style cape. This cape style is my favorite, its like getting to wear a blanket, but without any weird looks from your friends. The best part of mixing in the equestrian style is that the boots have little to no heel, so this look is open to those who hate being in heels..

Face To Face With Washing Your Skin
Let's face it, we have all gone to bed without washing our faces. But it is so unhealthy for your skin. Here are a few reasons why you should wash every night and a few tips to glowing skin.
Start with washing your face with a cleanser and not soap. Soap is going to dry out your face and increases wrinkling.
Wash with lukewarm water, not hot, and wash your face every night!
Five Reasons To Wash Your Face Every night
1.Skin repairs itself while you sleep. It can't if you don't remove your makeup first.
2.Not removing mascara can lead to broken lashes (Try coconut oil as a eye makeup remover)
3.Leaving makeup on to long fills pores which leads to large pores.
4.Washing removes oil, dirt, and dead skin cells.
5.Skin needs to exfoliate and can't if makeup is blocking that from happening.
Three great ways to keep your skin healthy and glowing.
1.Cleanse your face 1-2 times daily (over-washing can encourage more oil production)
2.Exfoliate 1-3 times a week (dead skin cells can fill pores and make skin rough and uneven)
3.Moisturize 1-2 times daily (apply to damp skin to keep moisture close to your skin, avoiding cracks and loss of elasticity)

On Set @ Aladdin's Lamp
Working on the Aladdin's Lamp set this past week was so much fun. Everyone is such a team player and it shows with amazing performances on stage. Here is a pic of my office last week at the vernon performing arts centre. I think I had around 40 cast members that I applied makeup to.
Above are the sketches of the faces for each cast member.
My picture on the crew poster:)
Some of the character faces that I have done are in the pictures above.
I had a blast for the third year in a row working with the okanagan rythmic club and circ company. Already looking forward to next year!
